Sarah Nelson


Sarah Nelson joined the BAYS Board of Directors in February 2024. Sarah brings over 15 years of go-to-market leadership experience with her to the board, where she is serving as events chair. In her career, she is passionate about building effective revenue marketing teams and embedding a growth mindset into organizations. It’s this experience helping Saas companies scale that propelled her in founding her own growth marketing consultancy, SN Demand. Prior to joining the board, Sarah helped to plan and execute the Superbloom Soirée alongside Katie McKnight and the planning committee. This event was the first in-person fundraiser BAYS had hosted in several years due to the pandemic. It helped reconnect our community and reignite fundraising to support membership benefits and programming.


Sarah was diagnosed with Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in November 2020 at the age of 34. She learned soon after diagnosis that she was BRCA1+, which changed the course of her treatment journey due to her high risk. The hereditary factor was unknown prior to her diagnosis, given her grandmother had been adopted at a young age. Sarah is grateful to have survived her diagnosis, and is still No Evidence of Disease almost 3 years out. Like so many, this experience has underlined her core value of giving back, and especially to organizations like BAYS that show up for you when you most need support and community.


Sarah grew up on Cape Cod, Massachusetts and lived in Boston for almost ten years prior to moving to San Francisco. In her free time she enjoys cooking, traveling, hiking, getting out on the water, and spending time with family, friends, and her rescue dog Sofia. Sarah graduated from College of Charleston where she sailed for their nationally ranked team and obtained a Bachelor of Science in International Business and a Bachelor of Arts in French.
