Hello! My name is Malkia Mann. I have been a BAYS member since 2021. I was diagnosed with Stage IIIC Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) to the left breast in December of 2020. After a lumpectomy, I completed a full schedule of AC/Taxol/Carboplatin and 25 rounds of radiation. In August of 2022 after an annual PET scan, I was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer to the lung and left mammary nodes.
After 17 years, I medically retired as an Associate Director from the Department of Veterans Affairs. I truly enjoyed serving our Nations Veterans by ensuring the received the best care possible. I am a mother of three (two girls and a boy). Prior to cancer I also ran a home bakery for five years. Baking is my true passion and I hope to get back into it during my retirement.
BAYS has been the best support system. I am grateful for every member. There is nothing like having individuals who can relate to what you are experiencing. Aside from my children, BAYS gives me hope and the energy to keep fighting.
