BAYS Events

BAYS hosts events to support young people with breast
cancer in the Bay Area. Our breast cancer support events
span San Francisco, the East Bay, the North
Bay, the South Bay, and virtual space.
BAYS offers monthly support group meetings with free childcare and community-building events, including hikes, picnics, and more. Events offer support for young breast cancer patients during diagnosis, chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and beyond.

 

Events have also included educational events on reiki and healing touch therapy, lymphedema, and physical intimacy after cancer. BAYS also offers a special support group called Mets in the City (MITC) for young people with metastatic breast cancer.

BAYS Monthly Support Groups

 

BAYS hosts three recurring support groups: an in-person Sunday group (typically 2nd Sunday in SF or Berkeley), a weekday morning group (typically Tuesday or Thursday), and a weekday evening group (typically 4th Tuesday).

MITC Zoom Virtual Support Groups

 

Mets in the City (MITC) offers two types of virtual support sessions for our community. Therapist-led support sessions are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from 6–8 PM. MITC also hosts member-led online support sessions twice a month, typically one midday and one evening session, held every other Wednesday.

Breast Cancer Memorial Garden Volunteer Days

The BAYS Breast Cancer Memorial Garden offers a tranquil, accessible space to gather, build community, and honor those who have died of metastatic breast cancer. Located on unceded Ramaytush Ohlone land, this sanctuary provides a peaceful space for grief, reflection, and connection with nature. Help us care for and maintain this meaningful community haven by joining us for our upcoming clean-up days:

Member-Initiated Events

 

We encourage our young breast cancer community to initiate events. When in-person events resume, we will offer financial support for those events because we understand how isolating breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship can be.
